On the 25th January 2018 Saints signed Argentinian striker, Guido Carrillo for what was reputed to be a club record at the time in the region of £19M (around €21.5M)
Carrillo played for Estudiantes in Argentina for most of his early career and made his debut in the first team on 2011. By the time he moved to French Ligue 1 side, Monaco in July 2015 for a reported US$10M (€8.8M), he had played 141 games across six seasons and had scored 42 goals.
The Argentinian was a back-up player at Monaco, but in his three seasons there, he still made 95 appearances and scored 21 goals. The Monegasque side won the Ligue 1 title in 2016-17, when Carrillo appeared 31 times, scoring 8 goals.
